Storage
Always store your uniform properly hung in the zip garment bag provided. Leave the zipper open to air out your uniform. DO NOT store shoes in the garment bag as they are too heavy for the seams. Be sure the cape is properly secured with clothespins; a wrinkled cape is an ugly sight! Black Students are required to wear black socks with their uniforms. If a student arrives to performances with socks other than black, black spray paint may be used. Yes, it has been done! Students are provided with one pair of black gloves, which can be stored in their hat boxes for safekeeping. They will be charged $10 for replacement gloves. Hair All students are required to have their hair off the backs of their necks, either by wearing it short or by securing it under their hats. This is a critical problem for boys. Make sure your student has what he/she needs to pull hair up under the hat: hair tie, bobby pins, gel, hairnet or a ‘doo rag’. Doo rags can be purchased at Walmart, Rite-Aid, etc. Jewelry No visible jewelry is allowed, especially earrings or other piercings. It is best that jewelry is left safely at home as it will be removed on site and there are no guarantees of returning it. Necklaces worn under the uniform are permitted. Clothing Students will arrive in uniform for football games and parades. Students will need to wear something that can be worn under the uniform (t-shirt, shorts, etc.) as private changing areas are not always available. Boys: boxer shorts are NOT shorts; we don’t want to see your underwear. Cleanliness All uniforms are dry cleaned before dispersal to students and we ask that you do your best to keep them clean during the marching season. If need be, pants can be machine washed in cold water and hung to dry. Jackets and capes are to be dry cleaned only. Please try to arrive with clean shoes and gloves. ALL UNIFORMS WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE END OF THE SEASON. IF YOU DO NOT TURN YOURS IN ON THE RETURN DATES, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DRY CLEANING YOUR UNIFORM AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. |
